Professeur invité

Dans le cadre du séminaire de Christian Lamouroux « Lettrés, fonctionnaires et militaires : la construction de l’Etat bureaucratique (Xe-XIe siècle) », conférence  de Madame Zhao Dong Mei 赵冬梅, Professeur associé au Département d’Histoire de l’Université de Pékin, Professeur invité à l’EHESS. La première conférence aura lieu le 22 janvier (voir programme ci-dessous et les autres les 29/01, 5/02, 12/02)

The construction of historical images in Chinese tradition: two biographies of Wang Qiao 王樵 (first part of the 11th century)

Most traditional Chinese historians incline to express their ideas by selecting and organizing materials rather than making comments directly. The biography of Wang Qiao in chapter 458 of Songshi tells t he story of a filial piety role model while the biography of the same person in chapter 4 of Shengshui Yantanlu tells the story of a reclusive hermit. A detailed textual reading of the two biographies will show how selection and organization of materials help to construct the two different images of Wang Qiao.
