It aims specifically at fueling research and critical reflection on rural knowledge from an innovative and promising perspective, namely that of networks. According to the sociologists Van Dijk and Castells, we live nowadays in a ‘network society’ steered by new means of communication and spreading of knowledge. It will be revealing to analyse how the sites and bearers of rural and agricultural knowledge (individuals, groups, institutions, media) in Europe, and in its colonial territories, were connected to each other and to the non-rural world, how they influenced each other, and how these networks shaped agriculture itself and sustained, even up to now, a more or less distinct rural identity.http://actualites.ehess.fr/nouvelle6338.html2014-06-30T10:21:31+02:002024-03-28T19:14:27+02:0026th Seminar of economic and social history. Social and geographical mobility in the history of rural societiesThe seminar aims to bring together research that analyses social and geographical mobility processes in different moments of history, from the Middle Ages to the present. In their presentations, the researchers will analyse the connection between social and economic changes and changes in residence and will explore new methodologies to analyse this relationship. Research on changes in residence associated with family or marriage, as strategies of social reproduction, will also be presented. In addition, the researchers have been invited to explore the direction – upward or downward – of social mobility, in both women and men, implied by the changes in residence analysed.http://actualites.ehess.fr/nouvelle6330.html2014-04-08T10:54:07+02:002024-03-28T19:14:27+02:00Globalisation, révolution industrieuse et commerce international : Hambourg, 1733-1798Conférence d'Ulrich Pfister, Center for Quantitative Economics (CQE), professeur invité de l'équipe de recherches pour l'histoire du monde rural.http://actualites.ehess.fr/nouvelle6147.html2014-02-25T11:29:50+02:002024-03-28T19:14:27+02:00ESSHC European Social Science History ConferenceColloque de l'ESSHChttp://actualites.ehess.fr/nouvelle6063.html2014-02-25T11:35:31+02:002024-03-28T19:14:27+02:00Les mutations des parcellaires.
